In one story, Laverna tricks a priest and a lord into handing over an estate and castle, saving she would pay at a later date. The Porta Lavernalis on the Aventine Hill was named after Her and she had a sacred grove on the Via Saleria. Laverna was a goddess of thieves, pickpockets, shopkeepers or dealers, plagiarists, rascals, and the underworld. Laverna - Goddess of thieves, con men and charlatans.
